Why Everyone Needs to Have Some Knowledge in English?
There is nothing new if I say that everyone needs to know English these days. We need it almost every day in our lives. If you point out that common people don’t need to know English, then I can prove you wrong.
India - A Multilingual Country
The English language is a part of Indian society and its people. We are living in a multilingual country where there are 22 officially recognized languages including English by our constitution. Still, the English language is most extensively utilized, knowingly or unknowingly.
Britishers Left English
The Britishers are gone, but they left the English language that had made a deep impact on the lives of the people in India. We can’t run or hide from it, just need to accept it as it is. We are so much into it that our young generation is rushing towards the local Spoken English learning center to master it.
English is Important to Young Generation
Well, the young generation needs to find a job and establish their career. Hence, students from all backgrounds and streams must have good knowledge of the English language. Otherwise, they simply cannot expect to go ahead in the rate race.
It is very simple. If your son or daughter is good at English then he or she can have a better career and subsequently a great future. The students who are studying in English medium schools can find a job quite easily than the others.
The Demand of English Education
Even modern parents know it very much. In the old days, we started our school education at 5-6 years of age, from the class I in our native language schools. But nowadays, three-and-a-half-year-old kids are getting admitted to Kindergarten schools that are concentrated on English-centered learning systems.
It may be an unfortunate event for some, but you need to accept that the demandfor English education is always there and it won’t decline shortly. Only this way students and professionals can go forward with their studies and career.
Why English is Crucial for Common People?
But, if someone thinks that English does not affect the lives of common people in India, then I will consider you to think again. There are tons of instances where at least some knowledge of English is required to carry out everyday tasks.
Buying
When a common man like me or you go to buy something, we can identify it with the names and descriptions written in English only. No matter what type of packaging is done on that product, mostly it is in English. So, if I can’t read it, I am not able to know if I am purchasing the right thing.
Paying
The same thing is also applied to paying bills. Everything is mentioned in English. Maybe some local stores still use the native language to mention some bills. But, still, the numbers are mostly in English. It's everywhere.
Documents
Whether it is our Photo ID like PAN card or Voter ID or Aadhar Card, all details are in English. Although that is accommodated with the local languages too. But, we tend to look at the English details rather than looking at the native ones.
The same is applied to other documents like Driving license, Passport, Ration Card, and so on. Can you mention one such instance where the English language is not utilized in any of our credentials? Wanna check school documents and mark sheets of yours or your kids. They are in English too.
Mobile and Internet
The same thing should be applied to the internet too. We are not only mentioning the computer or laptop devices but the internet-related services too. Most of the websites we access are in the English language mainly.
Are you using an application for entertainment like YouTube or connecting with your friends via Facebook Messenger? You are using it in English and you are getting comfortable with it too.
Conclusion
As an ordinary man, you may not need great knowledge of the English language, but if you are a young star and preparing yourself for your career, then you must join the Spoken English courses in India to go forward. This is how the English language is so much deeply involved with our daily lives.
